UIRA

UIRA: UIRA Is not a Recursive Acronym

This project was aiming at giving a suitable Flash animation authoring tool for Linux … Despite a great start, this project collapsed in mid 2007. This project is not anymore under active development, but I may add some code from time to time.

Since I was the leader and the maintainer of the project, I keep all sources here yet, I’ll publish all I got to make it available for people who would like to see what it was all about, and who knows, it may rebirth from its ashes.

As someone who has been searching for an open source alternative to Adobe Flash to no avail until now, I ask that you please revive this project; or at least let the project be taken on by someone else in order to further it’s progress. I would do it myself, but I have no knowledge of programming.

I know that that there are many more people out there, just like me, who have been looking for a program just such as this. All this program needs is time to grow. So please revive this project, I would be one of a great many people who would use and support this project throughout it’s life.

Well, I would be glad to revive this project, but I have no time for it now … if anybody is interested into continuing/reviving this project, please contact me I’ll let it go with no problem :)

(I still have to put all the materials we had back online)

As a lemming said “I know that that there are many more people out there, just like me, who have been looking for a program just such as this.”

well I’m a web developer and i too was searching for something like this… I must confess it’s very sad that this wonderful project died… very very sad.

We don’t have a free alternative and i can’t understand why nobody pick this before…

Flash is very popular… and we really need an FOSS software to do this. so please… revive it or, since you don’t have time for it, make it OpenSource so someone can pick it up…

For a web developer… i only miss this in Linux…

OpenSource web-developers really (REALLY) need this!!! don’t let it die :’(

As I already said, I would be glad to make it revive, if anybody would be interested, just leave a comment on this blog, or email me.

BTW, it *is* OpenSource … so I don’t have to “make it OpenSource”, I just have to put back the sources online (and that, I will do in May, I should have some time)

Many thanks for this worthy shell. I see it has been put back on line. I am convinced someone will pick it up and bring it along.

Unfortunately, i can’t contribute except by encouragement.

If Adobe were not quite so greedy requiring $500 for Flash, this would not be so important to develop as openware.

Gimp and OpenOffice are much appreciated and addition of this project will make a great addition.

Fantastic! After the first couple of months I didn’t think anyone was going to pick this project up.

Do you have a website that you’ll use to update people on UIRAs progress?
